Beverage distribution facilities operate on demanding schedules with continuous product movement, requiring careful coordination of expansion and renovation activities to avoid disruptions to daily operations.
ARCO worked closely with Adams Beverages to phase construction activities strategically, coordinate site logistics, and align building systems with active facility operations. This collaborative approach allowed Adams Beverages to continue servicing customers while modernizing and expanding its distribution infrastructure.
Expanding Distribution Capacity in Charlotte
One of the partnership’s largest projects was the expansion of Adams Beverages’ Charlotte distribution facility. The project added more than 91,000 square feet of new space, including a large climate-controlled warehouse expansion, office space, maintenance facilities, and a cooperage canopy.
The facility was designed to support increased throughput and future automation, incorporating accommodations for a three-level semi-automated pick module with a pneumatic conveyor system. ARCO also coordinated demolition and replacement of existing refrigeration systems while integrating new rooftop HVAC equipment and assisting the client in securing mechanical and electrical energy rebates.
Modernizing an Existing Facility in Pollocksville
In Pollocksville, ARCO Beverage Group completed an extensive renovation of an existing beverage distribution facility, transforming the building into a modernized operational environment tailored to Adams Beverages’ evolving needs.
The project included upgrades to climate-controlled warehouse space, draught cooler operations, office areas, hospitality spaces, and loading infrastructure. Structural reinforcement was required to accommodate wall removals within the existing pre-engineered metal building, while new high-speed doors, hydraulic docks, RTUs, dock shelters, and an ESFR sprinkler system improved both operational performance and safety.
Supporting Regional Growth in Leland
ARCO’s partnership with Adams Beverages also includes the delivery of a new 113,862-square-foot beverage distribution facility in Leland, North Carolina. Designed as a modern distribution hub, the facility incorporates over 80,000 square feet of climate-controlled warehouse space, multiple dock positions, draught cooler operations, point-of-sale storage, and dedicated maintenance facilities.
The office component includes amenities such as a bar, patio, and hospitality room that support both internal operations and customer engagement. Tilt-up concrete construction, conventional steel framing, and a tumbled thin brick façade provide long-term durability while reinforcing the company’s brand aesthetic.

Each Adams Beverages project required coordination of refrigeration systems, warehouse operations, logistics infrastructure, and active facility conditions.
