NEW GREAT BAY DISTRIBUTORSHIP HOUSES 1.5 MEGAWATT SOLAR SYSTEM
_______________
ARCO Beverage Group recently completed construction of a 267,787 SF beverage distributorship and office for Great Bay Distributors in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The facility is home to a 1.5-megawatt solar array – the largest privately-owned rooftop solar system in the state. The $2.6 million system will reduce the company’s electric costs by as much as 40%. Additionally, it is predicted to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 43,610 tons over its life cycle of 25 to 30 years, the equivalent of planting 1.1 million trees.
“We really thought it was the right thing to do,” says Ron Petrini, President of Great Bay Distributors. “We live in Florida. We are building a new building. We knew it was going to have a substantially large roof area. Why not take advantage of the sunshine?” he says.
As the new company headquarters, the distributorship also comes equipped with a state-of-the-art hospitality room, sign shop, maintenance building, truck wash area and fuel island. The insulated tilt-up concrete structure also includes a 143,000 SF controlled environment warehouse with a 30’ clear cross dock area.
The final product is an excellent representation of Great Bay’s rich history and bright future. ARCO is honored to have been a part of the process – from concept to completion.
